4 Natural Conditioning Treatments For Soft Healthy Hair

Coconut Deep Conditioner

This conditioner smells delicious and its so nourishing for your hair.

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons coconut oil
2 tablespoons sweet almond or wheatgerm oil
3 drops lavender oil
3 drops plumeria essential oil
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon coconut milk

Directions:

Heat to warm. Dampen hair then comb or squeeze conditioner through hair and place a shower cap or cling wrap over hair. Leave on for 20 minutes then wash out.

Manageability Conditioning Treatment

This conditioning treatment contains glycerine and honey, both humectants which are ingredients that attract moisture to your hair and skin. Banana is a key ingredient for this recipe because it minimises shrinkage and softens hair when mixed with the other ingredients. Olive oil penetrates well as does wheatgerm oil which is known for its ability to restructure hair because of its keratin like proteins.

Ingredients:

1 large ripe banana (the softer the better)
4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil or wheatgerm oil
2 tablespoons pure vegetable glycerine
2 tablespoons honey

Directions:

Blend thoroughly making sure to eliminate all lumps. Apply to hair and leave on for 30 to 40 minutes (cover with shower cap or cling wrap) then rinse out.

Avocado Detangling Treatment

This recipe offers many conditioning moisturizing benefits. It helps detangle hair and flatten cuticles locking in moisture thanks to the high fatty acid content.

Ingredients:

1 diced overripe avocado
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup unrefined shea butter
3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar

Instructions:

Heat to warm. Dampen hair then comb or squeeze conditioner through hair and place a shower cap or cling wrap over hair. Leave on for ten minutes then wash out.

Strengthening Coconut & Honey Conditioner

This is a very rich conditioner that uses coconut oil instead of proteins to strengthen hair. It's great for people like me who have thick, curly hair and don't bulk, just moisture and healthy shiny hair.

Ingredients:

4 tbs of extra virgin coconut oil

2 tbs of pure honey

(Use double the recipe for really thick or long hair)

Instructions:

Melt the ingredients together till warm, then apply to damp hair. Let it sit for 20 minutes, then rinse out leaving approximately 15% of the conditioner in your hair.

Simple tip for conditioned hair: add 1/2 a teaspoon of coconut oil and/or 3 drops of lavender oil to your conditioner for an extra nourishing conditioner.

These are just a few recipes to try. I also highly recommend Stephanie Tourles book (see below) for many more wonderful skin and hair natural recipes.

Super Easy Coconut Conditioner

This recipe takes advantage of all of the benefits of coconut oil in the simplest of ways. I simple take equal parts conditioner and coconut oil, mix it together in the shower and apply after shampooing.

Leave in for five minutes then wash out. You can also use coconut oil as a pre straightening hair serum. Works a treat, simply rub a little coconut oil - or better still half coconut oil and half argan oil together in the palm of your hands, then rub fingers through your hair.

This leaves your hair feeling shiny by helping to align cuticles and seal in moisture.

Dandruff Treatment

This is a duper duper natural anti dandruff treatment that also relieves itchy scalp. You can either use the recipes below, or add the essential oils to your shampoo for an effective treatments.

  • Use 1/2 cup of Grape seed oil, Coconut oil or Joboba carrier oils
  • Add to this 1 teaspoon of neem oil (it's key ingredient number one, the most important one)
  • Add 8 to 10 drops of tea tree oil
  • Add 5 drops of lavender (this works with neem to soothe itching)

All of these oils help to relieve itching FAST and the essential oils (along with coconut oil) also have antibacterial properties.

Mix these oils together well, and apply to hair and scalp as a conditioning treatment. Rub into scalp well and leave on for five minutes. Shampoo out and apply conditioner as usual. You can also apply this directly to your scalp as required to soothe and heal itching.

If you don't want to use this as a stand alone recipe, you can omit the carrier oils and just add the essential oils for your shampoo (250 ml or 8 plus oz) bottle.
